Winter break is here! The magical 14 or so days where kids are out of school and we all wonder, what day is it again? Another question on all of the parents' minds during this time of year…what am I going to do with my kids? Below are a few ideas–both indoor and outdoor–of things to do with your kids over Winter break in & around the Carmel area.
The Park at Traders Point

The park is located at the Northwest Campus of Traders Point Christian Church. 6590 S Indianapolis Rd Whitestown, IN.
Sky Zone Indy North
The closest trampoline park to Carmel, IN also happens to be our favorite one in the area. Sky Zone Indy North opens at 9am every week day and has great park visibility (meaning you can watch multiple kids in different areas at one time.) This indoor activity also has all attractions open to all jumpers. There are no height requirements on anything in the park, which means that even the littlest jumpers can have as much fun as their older siblings/friends.
Sky Zone address: 8356 Masters Rd Indianapolis, IN.
Inflatable Playground at Off The Wall Sports
Wall to wall bounce houses, no time limit on jumping, enough said. Open Fridays 9am-4pm and Saturdays 9am-1pm. $8 for non-members, $6 for members. Jumpers must wear socks.
HOLIDAY HOURS:
12/23: closed
12/27-12/29: 9am - 3pm
Off the Wall address: 1423 N Chase Ct Carmel, IN.
Trip to the Children’s Museum
Make a trip to the museum to check out the winter themed Jolly Days exhibit before it is retired forever on Jan 1, 2023! For a look into what you can expect on your trip, check out this reel on the @keepingupincarmel Instagram feed.
Visit the Carmel Main Library
After being closed for 2 years, the Carmel Main Library reopened it's doors on October 1st, 2022. Check out the children’s department, rent some books, and let your kids play in the kids area.
Cooking Class or Camp at Sprouts Cooking School
Carmel is home to one of the only kids cooking schools! Register your kids for a drop-off cooking class or the Sprouts Winter Break Camp and they will learn how to whip up something special. Classes start as young as 3 years old! More information and class times, here. If you want an inside look into a toddler age cooking class, check out this reel on the @keepingupincarmel Instagram account.
Christmas Golf at Birdies
Mini golf isn’t just for the summer time! Birdies (632 E. IN 32 Westfield, IN) has transformed their course into a golf-through lights display complete with light shows timed to music! There is a stroller friendly course making this outing the whole family can attend. Ice Skating
There are three outdoor ice skating rinks in and around Carmel–each with different scenes and perks.
Ice at Carter Green: 10 Carter Green, Carmel, IN.
This rink is in the center of the Christkindlmkt! It’s the largest rink of the three. You can book times to skate in advance (highly recommend). There is skate rental available or you can bring your own. FYI–-this is the only rink that does not allow skate “trainers” for younger kids to hold onto on the ice. If you have little ones wanting to skate, they will likely need to hold onto the sides or your hands while on the ice!
This rink is a great place for families and kids of all ages. Your ticket prices covers the entire day. You can skate in the afternoon, go grab dinner, then come back and skate the night away. You can bring your own skates or rent theirs. They also have skate trainers for younger kids to hand on to while skating! Bonus–there is a walk through light display in the park area near the rink you can walk through before/after your time on the rink.
Westfield Ice Ribbon: Grand Junction Plaza, Westfield, IN
In it's inagural year, the GLICE (faux ice) ribbon is a great spot for beginner skaters who want to avoid the wet and cold outcome of falls. Ride on skate aids available at this rink. Reservations for skate times required in advance.
